Generalized solutions to bounded-confidence models

چکیده
Bounded-confidence models in social dynamics describe multi-agent systems, where each individual interacts only locally with others. Several are written as systems of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) discontinuous right-hand side: this is a direct consequence restricting interactions to bounded region non-vanishing strength at the boundary. Various works literature analyzed properties solutions, such barycenter invariance and clustering. On other side, problem giving precise definition solution, from an analytical point view, was often overlooked. However, rich proposing different concepts solution available. Using several we show how existence granted under general assumptions, while uniqueness may fail even dimension one, but holds for almost every initial conditions. Consequently, various solutions depend on useddefinition

Opinion dynamics and bounded confidence: models, analysis and simulation
When does opinion formation within an interacting group lead to consensus, polarization or fragmentation? The article investigates various models for the dynamics of continuous opinions by analytical methods as well as by computer simulations. Section 2 develops within a unified framework the classical model of consensus formation, the variant of this model due to Friedkin and Johnsen, a time-d...
متن کاملOn Bounded Solutions of the Balanced Generalized Pantograph Equation
Abstract. The question about the existence and characterization of bounded solutions to linear functional-differential equations with both advanced and delayed arguments was posed in early 1970s by T. Kato in connection with the analysis of the pantograph equation, y(x) = ay(qx) + by(x). In the present paper, we answer this question for the balanced generalized pantograph equation of the form −...
متن کاملExact Solutions of Generalized Calogero-sutherland Models
Using a collective field method, we obtain explicit solutions of the generalized CalogeroSutherland models that are characterized by the roots of the classical groups BN and CN . Starting from the explicit wave functions for AN−1 type expressed in terms of the singular vectors of the WN algebra, we give a systematic method to construct wave functions and derive energy eigenvalues for other type...
متن کاملGeneralized Swanson Models and their solutions
We analyze a class of non-Hermitian quadratic Hamiltonians, which are of the form H = A†A + αA2 + βA† 2, where α , β are real constants, with α 6= β, and A† and A are generalized creation and annihilation operators. Thus these Hamiltonians may be classified as generalized Swanson models. It is shown that the eigenenergies are real for a certain range of values of the parameters. A similarity tr...
متن کاملBounded confidence and Social networks
In the so-called bounded confidence model proposed by Deffuant et al, agents can influence each other’s opinion provided that opinions are already sufficiently close enough. We here discuss the influence of possible social networks topologies on the dynamics of this model. PACS. 89.65 s 89.75 Fb
